Looking Back...an icon challenge community

I'm going to try to revive the community with a re-opening of the last challenge we had (from January). We received no entries then, but I hope with new images I'm posting and new ideas, we'll get some participation this time around.

I am always open to ideas and suggestions, so if you have anything to contribute to the community, I'd love to hear it!

This challenge will focus on the theme of music. Interpret this theme however you would like, setting it in the context of the 20th century. So use any lyrics, image, or concept from 1900-1999 relating to music, and you're set!

The challenge will run for two weeks, so if you have questions or need help, feel free to message the mod!

For this challenge, we'll focus on travel. This can be travel of any kind - car, carriage, walking, flying, even space-age prototypes! As long as the image you use is from 1999 or earlier (image must be historical, the mode of transport does not!), you're set!

It's October, and with Halloween coming up, let's icon some costumes throughout the years! Let's focus on the twentieth century for this challenge, so any images from 1900-1999 that feature a costume of some kind.

This can be for Halloween, masquerade balls, theater, etc! If you need help with images, feel free to use the sidebar or message the mod!

This week we’ll have a theme challenge: hair. There have been tons of great, and not-so-great hairstyles throughout history, so let’s icon them!

You may use ANY images from ANY time period! Just remember, to remain somewhat historical, images must be from 1999 or earlier. This can be a colonial wig, or a ‘20s bob, or maybe your personal best (worst?) from 1992! :D

Time for our next challenge! This week, we’ll honor mothers, since it’s almost Mother’s Day!

Your icons may use ANY historical image of a mother, that means anything from 1999 or earlier. The mother can be in an image with children or anything else, the focus of the icon just must be on mothers.

The other part to this challenge is text. A suggestion was including text regarding mothers, so as a special voting and award category, we’ll include best mother-related text. Think advice, quotes, or even just the word “mom”! This is not a requirement, but a special category!

My birthday is this upcoming week, so we’re going to honor birthdays this week!

We’ll focus on birthdays from the 1900s only, so any images from 1900-1999 regarding birthdays are fine. Use old family party images, stock images, etc - as long as they’re from the twentieth century, they’re fine!

Our first challenge! :D We'll start off with a special challenge, to make icons for the community to use.

This round will be very open-ended. As listed in the rules of the comm, challenges will primarily focus on the twentieth century, occasionally dipping into other centuries. To encourage entries and creativity, for this round, you may make icons representing any year/time period/era UP TO 1999, however, ONE icon MUST be from the twentieth century (1900-1999). More, or all, may be representative of this time, but one is the only requirement. No icons with images or text after the twentieth century, though!

The other important element is that somewhere on the icon the community name, lookingback_ic, MUST be included. Other text is fine, just make sure we have the name in there.
