Looking Back...an icon challenge community

Hello looking back_ic community!

We've been on hiatus for many months now. This past August, I asked if there was interest to jump-start the community again, and I received only ONE reply. So, I did not restart the community at that time.

If you are still watching and interested in making vintage, historical, creative icons in this community, PLEASE leave a comment, and answer this short poll. I would be more than happy to continue the comm and get it started again if there is interest!

As I had posted before, I had suggested moving this challenge into an "open-challenge" community, in which I would post a challenge/idea/prompt every week and people could submit to it or use it as a muse to create icons however they'd like. Instead of being a challenge community in which we vote and receive banners, it would be an idea/share community.

There seem to be a number of these types of icon sites already in existence, but we could strive to be unique! If you have a different thought, though, I would love to hear it!

Please comment with your thoughts and opinions here. I have always held that I want this to be a group effort, so I will take all comments into careful consideration. Thank you!

This is your last-minute reminder to enter Challenge 18: Music of the 20th Century by TONIGHT at 10 pm EST - in about 3.5 hours, or whenever you see the "closed" comment on the entry post.

I am trying to restart the community with this challenge, but have had no entries so far. I'd love some feedback if anyone is still watching the community. Should I try new types of challenges? Is there any interest in the community? Please let me know what you all think, I want this to be a group effort! Thanks!

Sorry for the lack of updates lately. With several challenges without much or any participation, I have placed the community on temporary hiatus. I will give the community the time it deserves soon - with new advertising and a new challenge by the end of February. Look back and get excited! :D

This round, we'll have a text challenge. In honor of the holiday season, we'll focus on holiday songs! Each icon MUST have at least 3 consecutive lyrics from a holiday-themed song of some kind.

Icon images/brushes/backgrounds/etc can be from 1999 or earlier, or represent a time from 1999 or earlier. So images may be from any time period as long as they portray a time 1999 or earlier!

Feel free to use Christmas songs, wintry songs, Chanukah songs, or ANY other wintry-holiday (let's keep it to this season) song lyric!!! Please do submit the song title with each icon! :D

For this challenge, we'll focus on travel. This can be travel of any kind - car, carriage, walking, flying, even space-age prototypes! As long as the image you use is from 1999 or earlier (image must be historical, the mode of transport does not!), you're set!

It's October, and with Halloween coming up, let's icon some costumes throughout the years! Let's focus on the twentieth century for this challenge, so any images from 1900-1999 that feature a costume of some kind.

This can be for Halloween, masquerade balls, theater, etc! If you need help with images, feel free to use the sidebar or message the mod!
